'Death On Locust Ridge' is a Western Doom Blues concept album with lots of twangy guitar and gravelly vocals.

Musically it has a lot of familiar 'Spaghetti Western' tropes, but instead of using a 'virtual' orchestra (like on the Beelzebub Jones trilogy), I opted to write for a relatively small ensemble, which meant I hardly used any software instruments in the recording of this album. Instead I relied on live instruments like guitars, acoustic bass, banjo, cigar box fiddle, cello, organ, frame drums, vibraslap, woodblock, assorted shakers, cymbals and tambourines - and a 'military style' side drum I made from an old steel rimmed banjo head and its wooden resonator.

This is a 'Western' themed album, but instead of telling a tale of outlaws, bank heists, gunslingers and showdowns at high noon, I chose to tell a more 'human' story in a Western setting. It's still gritty as hell though.
